Thank you for your interest in doing business with New England Aqua Ventus, LLC (NEAV).
NEAV is a project of Diamond Offshore Wind, a subsidiary of the Mitsubishi Corporation, to develop the University of Maine’s floating offshore wind technology demonstration project off the coast of Maine.
The project will consist of a single semisubmersible concrete floating platform that will support a commercial 10–12 megawatt wind turbine and will be deployed in a state-designated area approximately 3 miles south of Monhegan Island and 14 miles from the Maine coast in State waters.
The purpose of the demonstration project is to further evaluate the VolturnUS technology, a patented floating concrete hull technology, to support wind turbines in deep ocean waters, in addition to monitoring environmental impacts and developing best practices for offshore wind to coexist with traditional maritime activities. The project will supply clean, renewable electricity to the Maine grid.
NEAV is working cooperatively on this project with the State of Maine, which has identified as a priority Maine content and the development of an in-state supply chain for offshore wind. NEAV has agreed to make this a priority in the construction and operation of this project.
Construction, following all permitting, is expected to commence in 2022 and be completed in 2023. NEAV expects the highest quality service in every aspect of our business. We maintain that same standard for our vendors and believe that quality, service and cost advantages are best achieved when we work collaboratively toward common goals.
NEAV partners with a vast range of suppliers on both the local and global levels, to ensure the best technical solutions and economical value to fulfil NEAV’s procurement needs. Our vendors should demonstrate a solid track record of:
- Technical expertise
- Ethics
- Safety (HSE)
- Maine local content
- Customer service
- Lowest total cost
- On-time deliveries
- Communication
In particular, NEAV is looking for suppliers with the ability to help build the offshore wind industry in Maine and/or local Maine-based suppliers and entities that can provide goods and services during construction and operation of the project. In many cases NEAV will not contract directly with these entities but will serve as a facilitator to connect different levels of suppliers with each other.
